10 Ways To Make 2010 Your Best Year

If you really want to make significant changes in the coming year here is a list of 10 strategies you need to strongly consider. This short list of ideas will radically change the way you feel, the way you move, the way you think, your strength and your general well-being. Please add to the list in the comments as I’d love to see your ideas as well.

  1. Stop eating “factory food” Most meat at the local grocery was raised in darkness, never ate grass, was fed hormones and antibiotics as a  matter of course and all that crap now resides in the fat you take from that meat source.
  2. Run some sprints. Get your barefoot on and run some. Mark Sisson, author of the Primal Blueprint has some great safe  ideas on how to get started with sprints, no matter how fast or slow you may run. Checkout this video. Remember effort is the key and not the speed.
  3. Stop Eating Grain Grain is thought of by many as a poison. At best, you don’t need it and it can actually leach nutrients out of your body. Not that hard to stop taking if you really want amazing levels of energy. I’ve stopped eating pasta and have been using my Spiralizer to simulate noodles when I have meatballs and sauce.
  4. Find A Farm: I get all my pastured eggs, grass fed meat, cheese and cream at one place and have my raw milk delivered weekly. Is it expensive? Not particularly and it’s really about priorities. Amazing how much money you don’t spend if you cut the crap out of your fueling ritual.  And I can’t put a price tag on more vibrant health.
  5. Do Joint Mobility Work: Try some Z Health Drills or Pavel’s Super Joints. You will feel a million times better and you will move far better and more comfortably.
  6. Take Time To Reflect: Not to get “hippy dippy” on you but you need to really try to spend down time with just yourself each week. Try to meditate or pray each day. Slow down some and you will get great benefit.
  7. Work On “You Inc.”: Try to be growing at all times. And I don’t mean muscularly. Read. Listen to tapes. Try some Jim Rohn. One of my other favorite recommendations is Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking.” It’s a timeless classic.
  8. Workout: Lift heavy stuff and leave the leg extensions and bicep curls to someone else. Find a professional to teach you how to squat, deadlift and press. Most trainers don’t know these primal lifts and how to teach them for what I can see. Do some kettlebells. It’s a great 20 minutes of work if you are busy. I know great, solid teachers all over the world so if you need a recommendation I can probably assist.
  9. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone: What have you been putting off? Find just one thing you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t for whatever the reason and just do it. Find something else and so on.
  10. Enjoy: Life is meant to be enjoyed. Do your best and if you misstep move on and try again. Never beat yourself up. You can’t change what’s been done you just own it and move on. Have some fun!

Please take time to share and add your ideas in the comments. The whole community will benefit and I’m interested to hear from you.

Good tips Sandy! Merry Belated Christmas!

I would add a very important one
“Find and work with a qualified coach!”

While Sandy is probably too modest and does not want to turn this into a plug for his services, EVERYONE NEEDS a coach. Not just a few, not just professionals, everyone. Take action now.

    Rock on!

    Dear Mike,

You are on point with your commentary. I don’t want to plug myself but I’ve always known that coaching was important. Marty Gallagher and you have been great coaches to me. Coaching will take all of us to the next level.

    Sandy,

Fantastic top 10 for 2010. I like 6 and 10. You need some downtime on occasion (if not scheduled) It does wonders for your psyche. 9 is up there too (I’ve got just something in mind to accomplish that one!) If you don’t venture out of your comfort zone you wont grow no matter how good you are at what you’re currently doing.
Hope you and yours had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Michael,

Happy New Year to you as well and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. “9″ is my big one. I’m working on a bunch of stuff that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time that I kept putting off seeking perfection. Doing is a much better strategy.

    Train with purpose,

Sandy, I’d have to agree on your strategy. The pursuit of perfection can paralyze us. You nailed it, doing is THE strategy. All the planning, knowledge and training in the world won’t help us uness we act on it!

    Here’s to a great 2010!

    Michael
