Primal Chili Recipe

Regular readers here know that I’ve been following the Primal Blueprint generally for some time now but after reading the book, I’ve been 95% compliant both in workouts and in diet.

I wanted to share recipe for some Primal Chili that I made today.

  • 2 lbs ground grass fed beef or venison
  • 1 lb. raw milk fed pork sausage, loose
  • 2 medium green bell peppers, chopped
  • 3 fresh jalapeno peppers, chopped
  • 3 medium onion chopped
  • 3 ribs celery, chopped
  • 9 cloves minced garlic
  • 2/3 cup of chili powder
  • 2 TBSP sea salt
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 2 14.5 oz cans of organic diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 2 (15 oz) cans of organic tomato sauce
  • 4 cups of beef stock
  • 2 cups filtered water

Saute meat, bell peppers, jalapenos, onion, celery and garlic in large dutch oven in small amount of bacon fat or coconut oil. Stir in all other ingredients. Cover and simmer for at least one hour. Best if made a day ahead so flavors can marry. Garnish with raw milk Colby cheese and raw milk sour cream. Enjoy!

Looks good! There’s nothing like a warm bowl of chili on a cool fall day to warm you up.

    Hi,

FYI, your directions mention bell peppers but they’re not listed in the ingredients.

I made the recipe last night. Everyone loved it, very flavorful and no one missed the beans at all.

    Thanks for sharing it!

    Lauren,

Thanks for catching my mistake. It’s now fixed and I’m glad you liked the recipe!

I made this yesterday for a bunch of regular, “processed-carb loving” guys, and they all really liked it. No only did people not miss the beans, but a few of them commented that they loved not having beans in there. My wife said that this is the best chili I’ve ever made.

I changed the recipe a bit (omitted the water, added 1/3 lb diced bacon, and used cubed beef instead of ground) but the basis was all your primal recipe – thanks for sharing!
